EFT Deliberate Practice Groups
Based on Rhonda Goldman’s “Deliberate Practice in Emotion-Focused Therapy“ and used by EFT trainers worldwide, join us for 7 sessions of Deliberate Practice Groups facilitated by Lina Ng.
What is Deliberate Practice?
Deliberate practice is a skills acquisition process defined by two important components: intentionality and repetition with the goal of improvement. EFT skills are repeatedly practiced so that they “transformed” from declarative knowledge (theoretical understanding) into procedural memory (automatic performance). So that EFT therapist can remain effective even under difficult or unfamiliar therapy situations.
What are these EFT Skills?
There are a total of 14 exercises. The first 12 exercises cover an essential EFT skill. The last two exercises are more complex. They are as follows:
- Therapist self-awareness
- Empathic understanding
- Empathic affirmation and validation
- Exploratory questions
- Providing treatment rationale for EFT
- Empathic explorations
- Empathic evocations
- Empathic conjectures
- Staying in contact in the face of intense affect
- Self-disclosure
- Marker recognition and chair work task setup
- Addressing ruptures and facilitating repair
