SUMMARY:3-day Transdiagnostic Emotion-Focused Therapy
DESCRIPTION:What is Transdiagnostic?  \nThe transdiagnostic approach  is a newer  development in understanding psychopathology. It posits that psychiatric disorders (e.g. depression or anxiety) have more in common than traditionally assumed as discreet or distinct.  \n  \nWhat is Transdiagnostic Emotion-Focused Therapy? \nIn this experiential workshop\, the transdiagnostic model of Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT-T) will be presented. This treatment model combines two approaches. A modular approach targeting specific clusters of symptoms. A second approach targets the shared mechanisms which are the underlying vulnerabilities.   \nThe model proposes that clients’ core vulnerabilities are linked to specific chronic painful emotions\, and that these chronic emotions are constellations of sadness/loneliness\, shame\, and fear-based emotions\, idiosyncratically shaped by personal history.  \n EFT-T targets clusters of symptoms labelled as mood disorders by focusing on the underlying vulnerability shared by these  diagnostic categories. This shared emotional vulnerability appears to be centered around chronic painful emotions of sadness/loneliness\, shame\, and fear/terror.  \n  \nKey Feature of the workshop \nA key feature of this workshop is that real emotions are accessed and deployed. This is a unique form of experiential learning. Participants bring personal material as clients. “Student-Therapists” apply their learning on organically formed emotions.    \n  \nIn this one-day workshop\, you will learn the following topics: \n\nTransdiagnostic thinking in psychopathology: an overview\nEFT-T model of transdiagnostic treatment\nChronic painful emotions: sadness\, shame and fear\nEmpty chair work in EFT-T  \nTwo chair work in EFT-T  \n\n  \nWho is this workshop for?  \nThis workshop is primarily catered to learners who have received basic EFT training (EFT Module 1 and onwards) to expose them to new nuances in EFT practice. Learners who wish to participate in the workshop without any prior EFT background are still welcome to register\, but will have to complete some pre-workshop readings before attending. \n  \nAbout the Trainer \nLadislav Timulak\, PhD is Professor in Counselling Psychology at Trinity College Dublin\, Ireland. He is Course Director of the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. Ladislav (“Laco”—read “Latso”) is involved in various psychotherapy trainings in Ireland and internationally. We help clients transform painful debilitating and distressing emotions into one that is adaptive. EFT is an empirically-supported treatment modality that holds emotions as centrally important in human functioning. It involves a therapeutic stance that combines person-centered  “following” and neo-humanistic “guiding”\, in the client’s experiential process.  \n  \nAbout Caper Institute and EFT Certification \n\n\n\n\nCaper Institute is the only training provider in Singapore appointed by the International Society of Emotion Focused Therapy (ISEFT) to conduct certification training for Emotion-Focused Therapy. You may visit ISEFT’s website here: https://www.iseft.org/. \nYou may learn more about the requirements of becoming a fully-certified EFT Therapist here: https://caperspring.com/caper-institute/institute-for-helping-professionals/
